Would like to Visit Montana?
January 21st, 2010 . by AB KinneyI would like to visit Montana for a week on a budget, can anyone give me any tips. ie. where to go in Montana to get away from everyday life etc. I don’t drive, would that be a problem? Any suggestion would be welcome, thanks!
Glacier will be your best bet as they have the red buses that escort people around, but it’s truly a serene and beautiful place, you can also go by boat to the peace parks area so if you stick with a tour you should be able to skirt the no driving thing easily enough!
And yes, there are cowboys here, as well as first people (Native Americans) there are teepees and horse backrides too. I just have to giggle at the poster who said that . Too bad the pony express quit running years ago ![]()
Here are some links for you to take a look at

I also believe there is a shuttle from the airport to the lodges! or you can go by train!
Montana Vacation Cabins. Help?
December 2nd, 2009 . by AB KinneyOkay.. I’ve been searching the internet for awhile and just can’t seem to find anything on this.. I *know* these places are out there.. I’ve read about them in magazines, ect.
My girlfriend and I are planning to drive from Iowa out to Montana this fall. We want to rent a cabin for a few days (3-5 days, depending). But here’s the thing.. we don’t want some fancy resort/vacation thing. We want something secluded with just the barest of necessities. Electricity is optional. We don’t care if it has running water or not. Just a basic little cabin, somewhere out in the "woods".
Here’s the second catch — we want to bring our dogs. So the place has to allow pets. We have three adult huskies. All are indoor dogs, perfectly behaved and house trained. We do NOT let them freerun, so that wouldn’t be an issue. They’re always on leashes outside.
Anyone know websites where they offer places like this? Or where I should look or go about finding this?
Yeah. Look way up around Whitefish, up toward Glacier. It’s about 30 miles north of Kallispell, I think. I used to know a couple who owned a property with several cabins. (Sorry, I don’t have their contact info anymore.)
